Midoricha.com uses cookies and similar technologies. On this page you can read what cookies are, which cookies we currently use and how to delete them. In short: we only place functional and necessary cookies from the Shopify platform, plus limited, privacy-friendly first-party statistics from Shopify itself. We do not use third-party analytics or marketing cookies and we do not track you across other websites.
What are cookies?
A cookie is a small text file that a website places on your computer, tablet or phone when you visit. On your next visit, the website reads that file again. This is how the shop remembers, for example, what is in your shopping cart or that you are logged in.
Besides cookies, there is localStorage. That is a storage space in your browser that works in the same way as a cookie, but does not expire by itself. Data in localStorage remains until you delete it. In this policy, "cookies" also means these kinds of similar technologies.
Which cookies do we use?
We place cookies that are needed to make the shop work properly. These cookies come from Shopify, the platform our shop runs on. They manage your session, your shopping cart, the checkout, security and your language and region preference. Under the law, no consent is required for these strictly necessary cookies. In addition, Shopify uses two first-party cookies to keep limited statistics about the use of our own shop. These statistics have no or minimal impact on your privacy: the data stays within our shop and does not track you across other websites. That is why you do not see a cookie banner on our site.
These are the cookies and localStorage keys we use, in outline:

During checkout, the payment methods you choose, such as Shop Pay or Klarna, may place their own functional cookies that are needed to complete the payment securely.
The exact names and periods may change slightly when Shopify updates the platform. The essence stays the same: we only place cookies that are needed for the shop to work, plus the limited first-party statistics from Shopify listed above.
No third-party analytics or marketing cookies
We do not use third-party analytics or marketing cookies. No measurement software such as Google Analytics runs on the site and there are no advertising pixels on our pages. The only statistics come from the first-party cookies _shopify_y and _shopify_s from Shopify itself. They only measure the use of our own shop, for example which pages are viewed. So we do not track you across other websites and we do not sell data to third parties.
Could this change in the future, for example because we want to keep more detailed statistics or use marketing cookies? Then we will first update this cookie policy and ask for your consent via a cookie banner before we place such cookies.
Cookies and your privacy
Some cookies process personal data, such as your IP address. In our privacy policy you can read how we handle personal data, who receives it and which rights you have under the GDPR.
Deleting or blocking cookies
You can always delete or block cookies yourself via your browser settings. How this works differs per browser. You will usually find the option under "Privacy and security" or "Clear browsing data" in Chrome, Safari, Firefox and Edge. In the same place you can also delete localStorage, often under the name "site data".
Keep in mind that the shop works less well if you block necessary cookies. Your shopping cart will then not remember your products, for example, and checkout may fail.
Changes to this cookie policy
We may amend this cookie policy, for example when the shop gets new features or when the law changes. The current version is always on this page, with the date of the latest change at the top. If we add analytics or marketing cookies, we will inform you about it and first ask for your consent where legally required.
